Muscle stem cells play an important role in the regeneration and growth of muscle tissue: the more they are, the better the muscles function, the later senile muscle weakness and decrepitude occurs. According to the study, men who have been involved in recreational sports all their lives - swimming, running, cycling, and so on - have much more muscle stem cells than members of the group who led a sedentary lifestyle. Even if not too much, but regular physical activity throughout life has very long-term positive consequences, ensuring youthful muscles in old age.
