Moderate sleep deprivation reduces the body's ability to control blood glucose levels. Insufficient sleep reduces the effectiveness of vaccines, lack of sleep has a devastating effect on immunity, making us vulnerable to infections. In one study, participants who slept less than seven hours were three times more likely to develop colds than those who slept seven or more hours.
