SpaceX Successfully Tests Starship

August 29, 2025

SpaceX has successfully tested the Starship rocket after a series of failures. The launch took place from the Starbase spaceport in Texas: the Super Heavy booster with 33 engines detached and landed in the Gulf of Mexico, while the upper stage deployed eight Starlink mockups into space, reaching an altitude of nearly 200 km. Upon return, the upper stage splashed down in the Indian Ocean and exploded, but SpaceX stated that all key objectives were met. This was the tenth launch and the first one where contact with the rocket was maintained while passing through the atmosphere. According to CNN, the company has likely finally stabilized the technology.
