AI accelerates cell rejuvenation by 50 times

August 26, 2025

In our body, there are four proteins known as 'Yamanaka factors'. When activated, they can turn old cells into young stem cells – such cells can give rise to any tissue in the body, which can essentially be used as a potential remedy against aging. These proteins are virtually inactive by themselves, so we don't notice a natural 'rejuvenation'. However, they can be artificially introduced into the cell and 'reset the age'. The problem is that the classical method works very slowly and with low efficiency. Therefore, OpenAI created the GPT-4b micro model, which was trained on biomedical data about proteins. And it successfully redesigned new versions of these proteins, increasing the efficiency by more than 50 times. Scientists call this a breakthrough in regenerative medicine, as well as a step towards future treatments for age-related diseases and body rejuvenation.
