Off the coast of Costa Rica, a giant 'goldfish' was caught – a shark with an extremely rare mutation that turned its scales yellow. This tint was acquired by the predator due to xanthism – an excess of a specific pigment that gives a golden hue. Although this is not uncommon for fish, it had never been observed in sharks before – this is the first documented case in history.
