My Jar of Happiness

August 15, 2025

I have a whole jar of happiness. Here it is – in my hands. Every day, more precisely – at the end of the day, I write down one happy moment on a piece of paper. And I drop the note into the jar. That's it. It takes 30 seconds. So simple. There is always something that can go into the jar. Even on the worst day, there is a moment of happiness (or at least the least bad moment of the entire day). I've written these notes about moments of gratitude and joy at funerals, in the hospital, in the midst of pain, during loss, in the toughest times. It could be a kind gesture from a stranger. Coffee from someone's hands. That minute when you can kick off your shoes after a long day of running errands. Suddenly the rain stopped. There is always a glimmer of light. Capture it. Throw it into the jar. Keep it forever.
