Scientists Identify Genetic Predisposition to Chronic Fatigue

August 14, 2025

Scientists have determined that chronic fatigue can be hereditary. Research has shown the presence of 17 mutations associated with the development of chronic fatigue syndrome, and that genetic predisposition increases the risk by about 40%. The main genes affecting the sensation of fatigue are: NR3C1 - influences the body's response to stress; TNF-α - contributes to the development of chronic inflammation; SLC6A4 - reduces serotonin levels in the body. In the future, specialists intend to continue studying the causes of this diagnosis and develop possible treatment methods.
