YouTuber Benn Jordan Encodes PNG File into a Living Bird

August 1, 2025

YouTuber Benn Jordan encoded a PNG file into a living bird. He first drew an image of 176 kilobytes, then converted it to sound, and played it to a starling - a bird known for mimicking sounds. The starling reproduced the 'audio-PNG', essentially becoming a data carrier. In this way, a single starling can transmit up to 2 megabytes per second.
