The higher the body mass index, the lower the average salary, experts found. The study showed: just one extra point above a normal BMI - and income decreases by 4%. With a 10% increase in BMI, the salary drops by 9% and then typically stabilizes at this level. Scientists believe it's due to bias - overweight people are often seen as lazy and not ambitious at work, so they receive fewer perks from bosses.
