Scientists removed an extra chromosome and 'fixed' cells in Down syndrome

Geneticists used CRISPR technology for gene editing and literally cut out the extra 21st chromosome. After this, the cells began to function like normal ones. If the technology is refined, it could open doors to treatment: Patau syndrome (extra 13th chromosome), Edwards syndrome (extra 18th chromosome), Other genetic 'malfunctions'.
