700 Indians pretended to be the neural network 'Natasha' for 8 years and earned half a billion dollars. The Indian startup BuilderAI offered clients the ability to build any application with a constructor, select a template, and specify the needed functions, after which Natasha would produce the ready product. In reality, the request came to an office where hundreds of Indians wrote the code manually. However, there were some AI functions indeed: the applications were buggy, the code was unreadable, and functions didn't work. Over 8 years of deception, they managed to attract $445 million in investments from major IT giants, including Microsoft. Now the startup has been declared bankrupt.
