Emotional rollercoasters can negatively affect a person's psychoemotional state because they provoke anxiety and undermine confidence. Often, such a phenomenon becomes a conscious strategy on the part of the partner. You may understand that you have become a victim of such dynamics by noticing a sudden closeness followed by an equally sudden distance from the partner. Initially, the person pays excessive attention to the other. They are constantly in touch, fervently declare their love, and are always ready to meet, listen, or help. But as soon as they feel mutual interest, they disappear and distance themselves for no apparent reason. To avoid this, use the method of psychologist Martha Stout. After the first attempt to manipulate you, observe how the partner behaves next. If they try to create an emotional rollercoaster again, mentally give them a second warning and reduce your investment in the relationship: meet less frequently, communicate less actively, and do not offer personal resources. After the third time, leave.
