Scientists have discovered that taking a regular vitamin D supplement can give you at least three additional years of life. It all comes down to telomeres - the tips of chromosomes that gradually shorten over time, increasing the risk of age-related ailments. Regular intake of D3 at a dosage of 2000 IU per day slowed down the aging of telomeres by a full 3 years. However, even small doses of D3 are enough to extend your life.
