Scrolling on the Toilet Increases Hemorrhoid Risk

May 24, 2025

Scrolling through your feed on the toilet increases the risk of hemorrhoids by 46%. According to a study, those who linger too long with their phone on the ceramic throne earn themselves swollen veins in the rectum. The issue is that sitting on the toilet creates pressure on the blood vessels in the anus and rectum area, causing them to relax and expand. Doctors recommend sitting on the toilet for no more than 10 minutes, and some even advise against staying there for more than 3 minutes.
