Plastic Waste Found in Calypso Deep

In the Calypso Deep - the deepest point of the Mediterranean Sea - hundreds of plastic bags, cans, and other waste were found. The submarine explored only a small part of the seabed at a depth of over 5 km, and given such density, there can be up to 26700 pieces of waste per square kilometer, making the deep one of the dirtiest deep-sea areas.
