NASA to Launch Three Rockets into Northern Lights

NASA is set to launch three rockets directly into the Northern Lights to study their impact on the upper layers of the atmosphere and to measure the strength of energetic waves. The mission will take place in Alaska, where auroras are observed several times a week.
