A camera capable of shooting 9120 frames per second has been developed. KAIST scientists have created an ultra-fast camera inspired by the compound eyes of insects. The device can capture up to 9120 frames per second with high sensitivity even in low light conditions. The camera mimics the principle of the compound eyes of insects by processing signals through multiple optical channels in parallel and applying a temporal sum to enhance image brightness. Following this, a special algorithm eliminates blurring and restores the clarity of the captured material. The matrix thickness is less than 1 mm, making it ideal for portable devices and medical imaging.
