Rare Gigantomastia Observed After COVID-19 Vaccination

Scientists documented a rare case of gigantomastia in a 19-year-old woman following vaccination with the Pfizer/BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine. Symptoms began to appear a week after the first dose and intensified after the second shot. Over six months, her breast size increased from a B to a triple G. Treatment with medications, including steroids and antibiotics, was ineffective. Therefore, the patient underwent reduction mammoplasty to remove excess tissue. Histological analysis confirmed the presence of pseudoangiomatous stromal hyperplasia (PASH). However, the link between PASH, gigantomastia, and the Pfizer vaccine remains unconfirmed and requires further research.
