AMD Patents "Multilayer Packaging" Method for Chips

AMD has patented a method for "multilayer packaging" of chips. AMD proposes placing auxiliary dies over the main die. This way, more cache, additional cores can be added, bandwidth can be increased, and latency reduced on the same chip area.
