Nightmares lead to dementia and cognitive impairment. Any 'anxious dreams' can be a sign of impending mental problems. Study participants who experienced nightmares at least once a week were four times more likely to develop dementia. This particularly affects men. Sad news for those who often twitch, kick, or fall out of bed during sleep: this is also one of the markers for future dementia.
