Access to Fast Internet Increases Obesity Risk

November 17, 2024

Access to fast internet increases the risk of obesity. It turned out that a 1% increase in broadband internet connectivity is associated with an increase in the average body mass index of residents by 1.573 kilograms per square meter and an increase in the likelihood of obesity by 6.6%. This correlation remained steady in repeated checks using different assessment methods. These changes are likely related to a decrease in physical activity and an increased tendency towards a sedentary lifestyle.
