Ban on iPhone 16 Sales in Indonesia

October 30, 2024

In Indonesia, the sale of any iPhone 16 has been banned at the governmental level. Apple has not fulfilled its investment commitments to the country, having invested only $15.3 million out of the required $109 million in the economy. Such investments are mandatory in the country due to a law that requires foreign companies to use at least 40% of components produced in Indonesia in their technology - a similar law exists in India as well. As of today, Indonesia is the largest economy in Southeast Asia with a population of nearly 300 million people and more than 350 million active mobile phones.
