Grand Egyptian Museum Opens Near Giza Pyramids

October 19, 2024

The Grand Egyptian Museum has opened near the pyramids in Giza - the most expensive and largest archaeological museum in the world, which took almost 20 years to build. Over $1 billion was spent on the project, and the opening was originally planned for 2020, but it was delayed for various reasons - and even now, the museum has only opened in test mode, with not all areas accessible. There are a total of 12 halls, each containing more than 15,000 artifacts. Tickets cost 60 Egyptian pounds for locals and 200 pounds for tourists.
