New Solar Panel Can Provide Energy Day and Night

October 1, 2024

Researchers have applied a conventional silicon solar cell, supplemented with a transparent element for microcirculation of liquid. This liquid can change its molecular structure under the influence of ultraviolet and visible light. Scientists have named this addition Molecular Solar Thermal Energy Storage (MOST). The energy is stored in the form of changes in molecular bonds in the liquid. To release the energy, the original bonds need to be restored. The liquid can be used up to 1000 times or around three months of continuous operation.
