Emotional boundaries help separate your own emotions from those of others or those imposed on you. Healthy emotional boundaries prevent you from interfering in others' lives, giving unsolicited advice, blaming or criticizing someone, feeling guilt imposed by others for things for which you are not responsible. Emotional boundaries protect you from feeling guilty for others' negative feelings or problems to which you are not related.
