SpaceX Launches First-Ever Space Tourist Crew for Spacewalk

September 11, 2024

SpaceX has launched a spacecraft with the first-ever space tourists to conduct a spacewalk. Onboard are billionaire Jared Isaacman, his colleague Scott Poteet, and two SpaceX employees. The mission will last five days, with the spacewalk scheduled for the third day. The team also plans to pass through the Van Allen radiation belts and reach a distance of 1400 km from Earth, which is three times higher than the ISS orbit and farther than anyone has flown since Apollo 17 in 1972.
