Astronomers have discovered the oldest galaxy, which formed 300 million years after the Big Bang. The diameter of JADES-GS-z14-0 is more than 1600 light-years, and its mass exceeds several hundred million solar masses - about 10% of the Milky Way's mass. The light of this galaxy mainly comes from stars rather than a growing supermassive black hole. This discovery changes the understanding of the early history of the universe: despite the fog of neutral hydrogen that filled space at the time, galaxies were already actively forming.
