June 12, 2024

A creature has been discovered in the Pacific Ocean that is considered the longest-living animal on the planet. It is a glassy cup-shaped sponge that can live up to 15,000 years. The sponge was found during a 45-day research expedition in the eastern part of the Pacific Ocean between Mexico and Hawaii. Scientists believe that currently only one out of 10 animal species living here has been described by science.
