Male contraceptive could soon become a reality as scientists in the USA have made progress in developing the first sperm-suppressing contraceptive. Research in this field is funded by the National Institutes of Health and the Population Council. The contraceptive is a gel that needs to be applied once a day. It works on the same principle as oral contraceptive pills for women. If the contraceptive receives approval from the Food and Drug Administration, its final testing stage will begin in 2025.
