The disappeared branch of the Nile

May 28, 2024

Scientists have discovered the vanished branch of the Nile through which stones were transported for pyramid construction. Archaeologists had long believed that the ancient Egyptians could have used a waterway to move materials, but they lacked precise evidence to support this hypothesis. Now, researchers have used satellite radar images to explore the space hidden beneath sands and find lost rivers and ancient structures. It turns out that the river flowed alongside the pyramid complex in Giza. It is possible that the funerary processions of the pharaohs also followed the course of this river before their bodies were taken to their final resting place.
