China Builds World's Largest Electric Container Ship

May 28, 2024

China has constructed the largest electric container ship in the world, which will operate weekly between Shanghai and Nanjing. The ship, measuring 120 meters in length and 23.6 meters in width, can reach a speed of 19.4 km/h and travel up to 1000 km without recharging. It has the capacity to transport 700 containers at once. Interestingly, the batteries are also stored in containers, and additional ones can be added to increase the range: up to a maximum of 80,000 kWh, equivalent to 15 tons of fuel.
