Scientists have recorded a slowdown of the Gulf Stream due to climate change. As a result, hot countries may become even hotter, and cold countries colder. Specialists have analyzed data on the Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation (AMOC) - a system of ocean currents that transport heat from the equator to the north. It remained stable from 1955 to 1994, but since the mid-1990s, the AMOC has been moving slower, which is associated with ongoing ocean surface warming and changes in salinity.
