A new method for saving ecosystems

March 28, 2024

Biologists have proposed saving damaged reefs with the help of sounds from healthy ecosystems. Scientists conducted experiments and broadcast the sounds of thriving corals onto damaged and degraded reefs. It turned out that in such cases, coral larvae settled much more frequently. Scientists believe that their discovery can be used to support dying reefs. However, additional work is needed to understand if other coral species react to sounds.
