France enshrines abortion rights in the Constitution

France has become the first country in the world to enshrine the right to abortion in its Constitution. Both the Senate and National Assembly voluntarily voted for the provision guaranteeing women's freedom to terminate pregnancy. The new norm was supported by 780 parliamentarians, while 72 were against it. French President Emmanuel Macron called the decision a national pride and a signal to the whole world.
