Remains of Amelia Earhart's Plane Found in the Pacific Ocean

In the Pacific Ocean, the wreckage of the plane on which Amelia Earhart attempted a circumnavigation flight in 1937 has been discovered. The aviator disappeared during the journey aboard the Lockheed Electra aircraft with navigator Fred Noonan. The search operation at that time was not successful. The wreckage was found 161 kilometers from Howland Island, where the pilot and navigator planned to make a stopover. Specialists hope to recover the plane from the seabed within a year.
