Female tears reduce male aggression, study finds

January 3, 2024

Female tears contain a substance that reduces male aggression. For their study, scientists collected tears rolling down the faces of women as they watched sad movies. Then, the tears were given to men to smell, along with a physiological solution. The experiments showed that female tears caused certain changes in the brain that reduced male aggression by over 40%. Scientists hope to identify the active substance in tears, which would allow its use in medications to decrease aggression.
