Historic Building Moved in Canada Using 700 Bars of Soap

December 27, 2023

It is reported that builders initially made an excavation, installed more than 12 steel beams, and attempted to move the building using two excavators and a tow truck, but they were unsuccessful. Then the workers lifted the building by 2.5 centimeters using hydraulic jacks and placed 700 bars of soap between the structural elements. Overnight, it compressed under its weight, and the beams became slippery. As a result, the 200-year-old, 199.5-ton building was successfully moved 9.1 meters.
