Catholic Church Allows Blessing of Same-Sex Couples

The Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, responsible for the purity of doctrine, has officially allowed Catholic priests to bless same-sex couples. The document was approved by Pope Francis. However, the opinion of the Roman Catholic Church regarding the unions themselves does not change, and the possibility of giving blessings does not imply church approval of same-sex marriages.
