An eruption of Mount Etna has occurred on Sicily. The lava was ejected to a height of about 4,500 meters, but it did not affect the nearest city of Catania. Mount Etna is considered the highest active volcano in Europe. Due to eruptions, airports in the vicinity of the volcano often close their airspace.
