A statue dating back to the XVIII century, discovered in a barn in Scotland, is set to be sold for $3 million. The city hall of Invergordon acquired the bust for $500 in the 1930s, but it disappeared in the mid-20th century. The sculpture was only found in the 1990s, as it had been propping up the barn door. For over 25 years, the statue was kept in a local art gallery, but recently an undisclosed buyer offered a record-breaking sum of nearly $3 million for it. Its creator is the sculptor Edme Bouchardon, who served under the French king Louis XV.
