Even a slight lack of sleep increases the risk of heart disease. The experiment involved 35 healthy women who usually sleep for seven to eight hours. For six weeks, they followed their regular routine, while for another six weeks, they went to bed an hour and a half later. It turned out that oxidative stress levels increased by 78% even after mild sleep deprivation. This means that inflammation and dysfunction occurred in the cells, indicating an early stage of cardiovascular diseases.
