Jack Knetch once conducted an interesting experiment. He placed a cup of coffee in front of each student in the auditorium, waited for a few minutes, and then offered a chocolate bar in exchange. 90% of the students chose to keep the coffee. For the other students, Jack gave them a chocolate bar and offered to exchange it for coffee instead. Now, the same 90% of the participants wanted to keep the chocolate. In professional jargon, this is known as decision paralysis. The experiment proved that people are more comfortable leaving things as they are instead of making a balanced decision.
