190-Kilogram Robot Police to Patrol New York Subway

Knightscope, a company that created the robot, will deploy 190-kilogram robot police officers in the New York subway. Resembling a bulked-up version of R2-D2, the K5 robot will be used to patrol the station from midnight until 6 a.m. Equipped with four cameras capable of recording video (but not audio), K5 will spend its two-month trial period studying the station map and patrolling only the main areas, not the platforms.
