Tanzania eradicates 5 million birds to protect rice fields

In Tanzania, 5 million birds have been exterminated to protect rice fields. Red-billed weavers can destroy over 50 tons of agricultural crops in a day. Due to the size of their population, more than 400 hectares of fields were under threat. The birds were eradicated over a period of four days, including the use of drones.
