China Offers Financial Incentives to Young Brides for Boosting Birthrate

China is planning to pay a monetary reward to brides under 25 years old, aiming to increase the country's birth rate. In the Changshan district, newlyweds will be given a thousand yuan if the bride is younger than 25. This initiative is intended to encourage young people to start families and have children. In 2022, China registered only 6.8 million marriages, the lowest figure since 1986. Many women are reluctant to have children due to career aspirations and the high costs of childcare.
