Sharks Attack Circumnavigation Catamaran in the Pacific Ocean

September 9, 2023

Sharks attacked a circumnavigation catamaran in the Pacific Ocean. The first attack by Brazilian glowing sharks (these are small sharks about 42-56 cm in length) occurred on September 4th, causing damage to the catamaran's rear left pontoon, causing it to sink completely underwater. The next day, the sharks damaged the right pontoon, causing the catamaran to lose balance and start sinking. The travelers issued a distress signal. 45 minutes later, the dry cargo ship Dugong Ace, en route to Shanghai, approached the catamaran. The crew rescued all the belongings onto the rescue ship, but evacuating the catamaran was not possible - it sank to the bottom.
