Scientists analyzed data on the deaths of 632 children under the age of five in Africa and South Asia. It turned out that most often they died from malnutrition, HIV infection, malaria, congenital anomalies, infections of the lower respiratory tract and diarrhea. The mean age at death was 1.3 years. Experts acknowledged that 82.3% of these deaths could have been prevented.
