Soil improvement could save the planet from catastrophic warming.

July 14, 2023

A new study has found that small improvements to agricultural soils around the world will help fight climate change and keep global warming below 1.5°C. Farming practices that increase fertility and yields in the long run can store carbon in the soil, but they are often ignored with large amounts of artificial fertilizers. Green farming practices could reduce carbon emissions by 31 gigatonnes per year, according to new calculations. This value is enough to avoid catastrophic warming in the coming years.
