Researchers have discovered the Arrdc5 gene, which will help create a non-hormonal contraceptive for men. It affects the number, movement and shape of spermatozoa. In the study, male mice lacking the gene produced 28% fewer sperm, which moved 2.8 times slower than other animals, and about 98% of their sperm had abnormal heads and midsections.
