Bioengineers have developed artificial skin, like a squid.

Squids have special structures that allow them to change skin color in response to the external properties of their environment, as well as for camouflage, communication, and courtship. Researchers have adapted this process to create artificial skin that retains heat. They repeated the arrangement of elements in the squid's body to create a material they called PIskin. It can kill almost all bacteria and fungi, while the low freezing point means it can withstand low temperatures and is less likely to dry out.
